ERROR: Version XMP-Metadata (2.1) and XMLs (1.0) are different

Hi Timo,

a client just refused an invoice (ZUGFeRD) with the following Error code.
ERROR: Version XMP-Metadata (2.1) and XMLs (1.0) are different (FEHLER: Die Version der XMP-Metadaten (2.1) und des XMLs (1.0) unterscheiden sich)

Warnings:

Es wurde gegen ein älteres Release von ZUGFeRD(Factur-X) 1.0 validiert, da hier weniger Fehler auftreten. Im neusten Release (ZUGFERD_2_3_2) gibt es zusätzliche Meldungen.

Unfortunately, some information is missing here for which special placeholders are provided when creating a bug report, but which were simply deleted instead - now I have to ask again manually 🙂

include the app version you have installed - you find it in the "About" page of SubTotal
include the operation system (e.g. iOS) and operating system version (e.g. iOS 16)

I don't understand that error or warning. What validator issued that warning?
Was this error caused by a PDF or XML e-invoice? I assume PDF, so my question is this error also happens with a XML invoice

Is the same warning showing when using an online validator like this one? https://www.portinvoice.com/

I did some more research and I assume the error is about this XMP metadata block of the PDF:

I think the validator you mention is complaining about the 2.1 value of fx:Version and expects a 1.0 here. I also checked the ZUGFeRD specification and 1.0 looks like the value to be used here (because Factur-X is at version 1.0).
The value is written by the PDF library I am I see this as a bug of that PDF library (I might file a bug report there) but luckily there is a way to manually change it to 1.0 and that's what I will be doing with the next update.
Please let me know if this doesn't help with the invoice being accepted by your client.
