Free form text fields are used for things like bank accounts.
E.g. if you are in Europe, you would typically write
IBAN: DE12 3456 0000 0001 2345 67
BIC: ABCDEF1G
However, since there are no tabs used when formatting the content of the free text fields in the PDF, it is difficult or even impossible to make the “second column” left aligned, so it might look ugly.
Using tabs when formatting the PDF would fix this issue. The tabs need not be configurable; fixed tabs every 5 mm or so would suffice to be able to make perfectly aligned “second columns”.
