Hide Invoice Types

Hi Timo,
My request is the ability to hide Invoice Types just like hiding Tasks in WorkingHours.

I am aware that I can delete Invoice Types. However, that deletes the invoice history associated with that Invoice Type.

Could you briefly explain for what use-case you'd use such a feature? When would you like to hide certain invoice types?

Thank you for the question.
I have about 40 invoice types now.
Each one represents a unique project with an associated unique Purchase Order + other information.
I put the purchase order number, Vendor #, description of project, etc. in the introduction section. This unique information (for each project) is saved per Invoice Type. I typically invoice on a monthly basis, thus a invoice type might be used for many months before the project is completed. It is great that this information is saved per Invoice Type, as creating the invoice is fast. (No typing or editing required)
After a project is completed, then I don't need that Invoice Type anymore. But I am reluctant to delete the invoice type, as it will delete the historical invoices associated with this type.
From my point of view, the ability to hide invoice types, such that they don't show up in the drop down, when creating a new invoice, would make the list more manageable. Same goes for the Client List. I don't know how to edit the client list in any way, other than add new clients.

Thanks for your response.
The invoice types were not designed to be used in that way. You can use placeholders for e.g. invoice/order number in the salutation field and therefore re-use the same invoice type.
Also, the salutation is saved per-invoice and not saved in the invoice type. SubTotal just tries to be smart with how it pre-fills the salutation field based on the last invoice with the same invoice type. That's why it make appear as if the salutation info is stored along the invoice type. But you can have totally different salutations for different invoices of the same invoice type.
Maybe you can adjust your usage and use the same invoice type? I am open to add more placeholders for the salutation field if needed.

A placeholder would work, but would be slower. Lots of C&P for each invoice.
I appreciate that the Invoice Type doesn't "save" the salutation, but the "smart prefill" is quite reliable, so I have taken advantage of it. But now I have many invoice types.

Another possible solution is have a PO#/Project# where these project specific placeholder could be stored.
I.e. Select an Invoice Type, and also select a "Project", which has the placeholders stored.
But this will only work if one can hide or delete the "Projects", otherwise it is no different to the situation I have now.
This idea potentially ties into this WorkingHours feature request.

Adding a "project" concept to the app would further complicate the app - and my top goal in SubTotal is to keep it as minimalistic as possible and only add additional input fields if absolutely necessary or in optional sub-pages

The client list is dynamically created by all clients of all past invoices. You can only edit or delete it by edit/delete the invoice where the client was used
