Thanks for testing again. I’m currently not able to reproduce the crash on my macOS 15 test machine, but the crash report still points to a macOS/AppKit text-suggestion issue, so it may depend on a specific macOS 15 setup or user data.

Could you please send me:

The full .ips crash report file for the latest SubTotal crash, not just the translated summary. You can find it in Finder via Go -> Go to Folder...:

   ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/

Then look for a file named like:

   SubTotal_*.ips

A short screen recording showing the exact steps from creating the invoice until the crash.

You can send both privately to subtotalapp@outlook.com if you prefer. The crash report should help me map the native crash to the exact app code path, and the recording may reveal a detail I’m missing, such as how the line-item suggestion is selected.

If possible, please also try the same steps after updating to macOS 26. My current suspicion is that this is related to the macOS 15 text-suggestion UI, so that would be a useful comparison.

Thanks for the crash report and details. I was able to narrow it down now.

The crash happens on macOS 15 when selecting a line-item suggestion where the suggestion starts with the text already typed, for example typing W and selecting Work. It does not seem to happen for suggestions where the match is later in the text, for example This Work.

I found the problematic code path and changed how SubTotal places the cursor after applying the selected suggestion. This should fix the crash in the next update.

As a workaround until the update is available, you can avoid the crash by typing a little more/different text before selecting the suggestion, or by selecting a suggestion where the typed text is not exactly the beginning of the line-item text.
