Is there (or can there be) a "Shortcode" for Invoice Number?

I see that {Placeholders} are for file names when saving, and this is a great feature.

But I'd like to use a placeholder (or shortcode) so that Instead of the word "Invoice" for the Header of the pdf invoice, I want it to say: "Invoice 123" (the shortcode will put in whatever number is that current invoice's number.)

Is there a shortcode of some sort that I can use to do that?

Can you please give a more specific example of what you want the PDF to show?

If you only want to change the word “Invoice”, this should already be possible in the invoice type settings by changing the heading/name of that invoice type.

Do you instead want a dynamic value, for example a heading like “Invoice {invoice_no}” that becomes “Invoice 123” on the PDF? Or do you want to use the invoice number in another text field, such as payment terms or salutation?

Yes, a dynamic value. I tried using {invoice_no} in a layout field but the codes seem to work only for filenames when saving files.

Perhaps that same group of {curly-quotes} items that already exist can be used in any of the fields in the layouts. Then users can have more flexibility.

Thanks, now I understand. You want to use {invoice_no} in the invoice heading so that “Invoice” becomes, for example, “Invoice 123”.

Placeholders already work in fields such as the salutation and payment terms, but currently not in the invoice heading. Layout 4 displays the invoice number separately in the sidebar. I’ll treat support for placeholders in additional PDF layout fields as a feature request.
