As written in the FAQs, SubTotal does have an "implicit item database", as it auto-suggests invoice items from previous invoices when writing in the invoice item description field. When selecting one fo the suggestions, SubTotal not only fills in the "description", but also the other columns (quantity, unit price, tax).
Is there a specific reason this is not sufficient for you? What benefits would be a "real" item database have for you?
