How to have consecutive invoice numbers for two businesses?

Hi there,
I need to write invoices for two different businesses, but the invoice numbers need to be consecutive together instead of separate (being a freelancer with just one tax number). So, no matter which business I write the invoice for, I need the numbers to run consecutively. For instance, first invoice (for business A) is #1, next invoice (for business B) is #2, next invoice (B) is #3, next one (A) is #4 etc. Is that at all possible?
SubTotal version: 1.5.62
OS + version: MacOS Sequoia 15.2

You could set up an invoice number like 1_123 (for company #1) and 2_123 (for company #2).
When creating new invoices, the numbers should increment to 1_124 or 2_124 respectively.

You could also just ensure that the numbers are consecutive manually (by manually entering it). But SubTotal doesn't ensure the number uniqueness across companies
